Latency Comparison

Latency is the amount of time it takes a packet to travel from source to destination. Together, latency and bandwidth define the speed and capacity of a network.
Latency is a critical parameter for several applications such as Voice over IP services (Skype) or Online Gaming.
Latency will also impact the maximum throughput reachable on a single TCP connection.

  1. This graph is not to scale and exaggerates the difference between the latencies. The unitel bar is shown more than twice the size of planet, but there's only a 9% difference. Also unclear about the methodology used to get this stat. Were multiple destinations used? Multiple times of day? Asia vs North America? 300ms implies this is a test of trans-pacific latency.
